Our Roots

It’s no secret that we started out as a Canadian wholesaler of unlocked phones and devices, known as Basatne Electronics. As our network grew and we opened a US location that served customers around the globe, we also saw the opportunity to sell directly to the people who would be using the devices.

Our online retail store became synonymous with extraordinary customer service and our warranty was something that others in the industry were scrambling to compete with. Our brand became so tied to our warranty, however, that when we decided to offer our customers even more choice – to buy our warranties or not, to decide for themselves which level of shipping they preferred – we changed our name and our brand.

We decided on the brand name TekShop because it reflects our company values. We are not a big box store or a mega online marketplace, we are a shop that relies on the satisfaction of each of our customers to get ahead. We sell consumer technology and nothing more. But for the products we do sell - phones, tablets, camera, lenses, and their accessories - we are passionate about and experts of.
